A Prayer for Those in Active Service
For
those who from our firesides, Lord, have gone
To fight for freedom's cause on land or sea,
We ask that they may know the peace of Mind
That comes to those who put their trust in Thee.
For those who in the air their course have taken
To guard our shores and homes from foes' alarms,
We ask that they may know Love's ever-presence
And underneath the everlasting arms.
Oh, may that day be not so long in coming
When all the peoples of the earth are free;
And in that day, may all our hearts be lifted
And filled with gratitude, dear Lord, to Thee!
