Doing Your Part

[Of Special Interest to Youth]

You are about to don your uniform, if you have not done so already. Your plans for the future, your education, will be put aside for the time being. Instead, you will go forward as God's minuteman to do your part in winning the peace. You will want to do this well, remembering St. Paul's words. "Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

You will be confident. You will be courageous. You will know that Mind directs you, because the real you and I, being the image and likeness of Spirit, God are inseparable from Mind. You will realize that wherever you go, your protection is at hand.

Our beloved Leader Mary Baker Eddy, has written in the Christian Science textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well." To be conscious is to be mentally awake or active. Perhaps the error in which you are tempted to believe at this time does not call itself sickness, but loneliness, or a false sense of pleasure, discouragement, even confusion. You can at once turn from this false evidence, this misstatement, and know yourself happy and free.
