Spiritual Discipline
Robert Power
Evening Dispatch, Edinburgh, Scotland
He who obeys with modesty, said Cicero in his Laws, appears worthy of being allowed to command.
The boy who, beginning on the lowest rung of the industrial ladder, and in due time reaching the top, is not the lad who wanted to do as he pleased, and resented discipline. The young musician who is suspected by parents of having genius may indeed posses it, but it is certain that unless he submits patiently to strick discipline and to his tutors, he will never attain distinction, be his genius ever so exceptional.
