It is a privilege to testify to the curative power of Christian Science, as evidenced in a healing I experienced.
On the day of the hurricane that struck New England in September, 1938, I was knocked down and severely injured when a brick chimney, blown over by the fury of the gale, fell on me. While my wounds were being dressed by a Christian Science nurse called in for that purpose, it was discovered that my injuries comprised a broken collarbone and a badly mangled foot. A practitioner took up work immediately. Subsequently, a surgeon was called to set the broken collarbone and to stanch the flow of blood from the injured foot—an artery having been severed.
From the start I improved in a remarkable manner. Six or eight days after the accident I saw, in a sudden and brilliant flash of inspiration, that if in the divine order there had never been an accident no bone had been broken, and consequently I did not need to wait for the collarbone to knit together.
