Church Dedications

The Mankato Free Press

Mankato, Minnesota (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, Mankato, had capacity crowds at morning and afternoon services on Sunday, June 7, 1942, which marked the dedication of the new church building.

The history of Christian Science in Mankato was read at both services. In 1893, services were held in an upstairs apartment on South Front Street. The church was organized in 1903. In 1909, after moving their church home several times, the members began to hold services in the Swedish Methodist Church, 310 South Fourth Street.

The lot on which the new church is situated was purchased in September, 1927. The new building was started on November 18, 1940, and the laying of the cornerstone took place on January 7, 1941.—The Mankato Free Press.
