It is a privilege and joy to testify...
It is a privilege and joy to testify to the healing benefits of Christian Science. As I look back over my human experiences, it is such a comfort to see God's gentle guidance all along the way, leading me to investigate this religion a few years ago.
As we drove by a Christian Science church in a near-by town some years ago. I voiced the desire to attend services there some day, just to see what they were like. A few years later, a new sister-in-law was introduced to me as a Christian Scientist. Her loving ways and joyous willingness to help, and a healing experienced while in her company, again aroused the desire to look into Christian Science. Then, a few months later, while borrowing some books from a neighbor, I saw the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, on her shelf and borrowed it along with some novels. This was the turning point. The novels went back unread, while the little book remained until I had devoured its contents. Attendance at a communion service in the branch church of which I am now a member followed. Later I joined The Mother Church, and then received class instruction.
There have been many healings, physical and mental. Glasses have been laid aside, susceptibility to colds has been overcome, and a morbid outlook on life replaced by a happy, forward-looking thought. Our children, who attend Sunday school, are protected daily. Their father's opposition to Christian Science has been overcome, until now he, too, is asking, "What can Christian Science do for me?" So it is with a deep sense of humility that I join other grateful testifiers and give all the glory to God for this priceless and blessed heritage.—(Mrs.) Mary E. Somers, San Gabriel, California.
