The testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and the Sentinel have meant so much to me that I wish to add mine, with the hope that it may be of help to others.

Many years ago I was stricken with a severe nervous disorder, which confined me to a darkened room because I was particularly sensitive to light and sound. For several weeks I remained in bed, with the dark shades and heavy draperies tightly drawn. Finally, not receiving help from materia medica, I turned to Christian Science. A practitioner was called, and as she quietly sat beside me I felt a strange glow of light and peace enter my consciousness. This seemed wonderful to me, for she had not spoken a word about Christian Science. When the treatment was over she said. "You have my telephone number; call me if you wish," and with a cheery "good-by" she left the room. I lay there in great peace for a few moments. Then the thought came, "I cannot endure not seeing the light," so I arose, walked to the windows, and threw back the shades. The sunlight streamed into my face. I crossed the room to enter the bed again, but upon reaching it I exclaimed, "Why, I don't want to lie down, I've got to dress." As I did this I felt as well as though the experience had never occurred, and after lunch went on a shopping trip through the crowded, noisy streets of Boston.

During the weeks which followed I often wondered why it was that after days of complete darkness the sudden burst of sunlight into the room did not startle me; it all seemed perfectly natural. Later I discovered that Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (Pref., p. xi): "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation. Now, as then, these mighty works are not supernatural, but supremely natural."
