Our Rights Defended

In these days when the subject of defense is a chief topic of discussion, we are reassured by the words of the Psalmist, "His truth shall be thy shield and buckler." We are further enlightened and encouraged to find that the word "shield" is defined in part in a dictionary as "defense; shelter." We see, then, that "His truth" is our defense.

In Christian Science, Truth is synonymous with God. Thus Truth is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent, a sure and impregnable defense, and there is no hostile force that can enter this stronghold or invade its domain. Since God, Truth, is infinite, All, there is nothing unlike Him in all the universe of His creating. There is, in real being, no opposition to Truth, no cause for opposition, no law or force supporting opposition. All-inclusive Truth knows nothing that can work destruction.

Man, in the image and likeness of God, Truth, is conscious only of Truth. His consciousness reflects God, infinite divine consciousness. Therefore, the spiritual man's consciousness of good is never invaded by evil or material belief.
