I am indeed grateful for Christian Science
I am indeed grateful for Christian Science. It has brought within the scope of my experience much cleansing, purifying, and regeneration; an understanding of God, man, and the universe; health, employment, joy, and a host of wonderful friends.
I have been healed of the tobacco and liquor habits; of heart and lung trouble, supposed to have been caused by gas in the World War. I have seen crooked teeth straightened; deformity, two hernias, two broken bones, and a severely sprained ankle healed; also, an instantaneous healing of scarlet fever. I have enjoyed a wonderful sense of protection from accidents.
During the World War, I witnessed a splendid demonstration. A working party, of which I was a member, had been so severely shelled that it was impossible for us to do the work assigned to us, and, as a result, for five consecutive nights we were forced to give it up without accomplishing anything. On the sixth night there was snow on the ground and the moon was very bright, but we were under the command of an officer who was a consecrated student of Christian Science. Despite the snow and the brightness of the moon, we went into "No Man's Land" and completed the work assigned to us. On the previous nights our casualties had been very high, but on this night we had none; not so much as a shot was fired at us. I have often thought, since becoming a student of Christian Science, how successful this man had been in proving his constant at-one-ment with God, and in demonstrating that peace which the world can neither give nor take away. His high sense of courage and extreme unselfishness and the wonderful joy which he always expressed were a constant source of wonder to all who came in touch with him.
