"Love never faileth"

The teachings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, are full of the comforting assurance that the Love which is God always sustains and promotes progress. Through revelation and experience one becomes conscious of spiritual unfoldment and learns to trust the spiritual increase that is taking place within. It is clear that a law of growth is operating, so that even when things seem darkest, one can confidently look forward to the dawn.

Wisdom prompts humble heeding of the truth found in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where Mrs. Eddy, in speaking of adversity in humanexperience, especially disappointment in the human sense of friendship, says (p. 266): "When this hour of development comes, even if you cling to a sense of personal joys, spiritual Love will force you to accept what best promotes your growth. Friends will betray and enemies will slander, until the lesson is sufficient to exalt you; for 'man's extremity is God's opportunity.'" Can we not learn to be grateful for "God's opportunity"?

What unfailing care our Father-Mother God bestows upon us in forcing us to accept that which is best for us, whether it is humanly desired or not! So if the individual seeking Truth is tempted to think his footsteps are faltering, feeble, or thwarted, wherever there is an underlying honesty of purpose, he can trust the attraction Godward to be unfailing, because this attraction is real and true, and is governed by divine law. It leads to the right place, true consciousness.
