I wish to express my gratitude...

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. It has been my only physician for the past twenty-five years, and has met my every need. I am especially grateful for the fact that I had the opportunity of being a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School, and that as a result I have had very few difficulties, for I realize that Christian Science is a preventive as well as a curative agency.

The first healing that I can recall, which occurred shortly after I started to attend Sunday school, was that of a cut on my eyeball. While playing hide and seek, I jumped from behind a hedge and was struck across the eye by a dry twig. It was impossible to see anything but a white blur. My mother, who did not know much about Science at that time, was very much upset and wanted to take me to a doctor, but I prevailed upon her to let me work it out in Science. By evening my vision was entirely normal, and it has remained so ever since.

Through the loving help of a practitioner, a Christian Science nurse, and my husband, I experienced a harmonious childbirth. All through the time of pregnancy I held to the thought, expressed in the title of one of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, that God is the only cause and creator, and that I had nothing to do with the birth. Through this realization I was entirely free from distress throughout the entire period, going about my usual duties to the last day.
