For seventeen years it has been...
For seventeen years it has been our privilege to have Christian Science in our home.
I have been healed of a condition which had caused me sudden attacks of extreme pain. This healing, although slow, planted me more firmly in Truth. More recently I have been healed of impetuosity, a tendency towards human outlining, and of personal sense, through having gained a clearer understanding of Mrs. Eddy's words in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 454), "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way," and, "Patience must 'have her perfect work.'"
My husband has been healed of the smoking habit, in a severe form, of over thirty years' standing. This healing came while he was having Christian Science treatment for unemployment.
As I have learned to trust God more. Christian Science has been of inestimable help to me in the rearing of three children. It has made me a better mother, more patient, loving, and understanding.
I should like to tell of the healing of our little daughter of what seemed a critical illness. There was no physical diagnosis. The condition included throat and mouth infection, high fever, delirium, days of semiconsciousness, followed by running sores, running ears, and, later, deafness. Much offending error was beautifully removed as she slept, and she was completely healed in thirty days with absent treatment. At no time during this period did the practitioner see the child.
I am very grateful for my husband's firmness during what seemed a great trial; also, for the respect and co-operation of my family, who are not interested in Christian Science, but to whom the child is very dear. At this time, the Apostle Paul's lesson, "The things of the Spirit ... are spiritually discerned," was more fully understood and a temptation to look at material evidences was overcome.
To the practitioner who has helped me so many times, and to all practitioners for their ceaseless, tireless work, I am extremely grateful. For all the Christian Science literature, for the lectures, and for every avenue that our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has so wisely provided for the growth of Christian Science, I am very thankful.—(Mrs.) Louise Woehrl, Chicago, Illinois.
