On page 265 of Science and Health...
On page 265 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read, "The loss of earthly hopes and pleasures brightens the ascending path of many a heart." How true are these words, and how surely they were meant for me!
After a doctor of this city had told me I had tuberculosis, I had no desire to live longer, but when I thought of leaving my little son in the care of someone else, it almost drove me mad with fear of what might happen to him. It was in this dark hour that I asked God to take care of him so that he would never have to suffer as I had suffered.
That prayer was answered in many ways—first, by bringing Christian Science to me. The moment I read the lines in the Preface to Science and Health (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," I felt sure I had found the way out of my difficulties. A practitioner was consulted, and through her loving work I was healed.
