Man's Completeness
A Young student of Christian Science had been endeavoring to seek God first in solving his problems of supply. As he turned to divine Mind for guidance, he took right human footsteps in applying for a job, according to his understanding of the divine direction which he was seeking. One day, before the solution of his problem had been made manifest to him, he was led to go into an employment office in an organization where all the employing had been temporarily completed. During the interview the telephone rang and a department head requested an additional person for the day. Since there was no one within the organization available, the applicant was told that a job was open for one day, and asked if he wanted it. Of course he wanted it, for it was an opportunity to take one step forward in making his demonstration. He went to work for one day, thus meeting another's need. Two years later he was still employed in that same organization.
A problem is an opportunity to prove the power of God, to practice Christian Science. The suggestions which would question one's ability to find the right contacts, which would claim a necessity for special influence, or bewilderment as to what to do first, is answered as we practice Christian Science in accordance with Christ Jesus' command, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 410), "Christian scientific practice begins with Christ's keynote of harmony, 'Be not afraid!'" Then, in seeking God first, we can begin by knowing that there is no fear, and nothing to fear. Is the human need such that finding a job would seem to answer that need? Our need is always for greater understanding of God. Divine Mind is the source of all spiritual activity, and Mind knows no frustration, no competition, no opposition. Then man, in Mind's image and likeness, knows none. Nothing can enter the realm of Mind to influence or obstruct the operation of the law of Mind.
