A dear friend brought Christian Science...
A dear friend brought Christian Science to my notice when I was near to passing on. This friend was not a Scientist, but had heard of the wonderful healings which Christian Science brings to those who are willing to try it. She is now a good student herself, and has received the blessings of many healings.
I was suffering from cancer of the liver and a secondary growth in the throat. When my friend asked me to try Science I held to the thought that "with God all things are possible."
I had spent several weeks in a hospital, during which time the doctors had made a deep incision, and had found they could do nothing for me, because my case was chronic and in its last stages. I was very ill and weak, but through the consecrated work of a Christian Science practitioner, who gave me absent treatment, I was able to bathe, dress myself, and have a meal with the family the day after help was given. I had begun to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and on the third day I decided to put to the test the statements about food on pages 388 and 389. This test proved satisfactory—and also was one proof of the truth of Christian Science—so that I lost all fear about eating, and ever since I have eaten any kind of food without any ill effects whatever.
