Our life is crowded to the full with possessions and pleasures. If we are so preoccupied as to have no room for Christ in our lives then our life is a failure. This is the test of everything—room for Christ.
The world preoccupies us and enchains all our powers. It is not an exaggeration to say that those who are under the spell of the world cannot have room for Christ in their lives. It is simply occupied with things that do not profit. It gives itself over to things which are insufficient. Its main interests are in domestic concerns, social amenities, and commercial correspondences. These are the things around which all its activities circle. ...
