For over twenty-five years Christian Science has healed and preserved me from the ills of the flesh. The greatest investment I ever made was my purchase of a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which opened and illumined the Bible for me.

My first healing came about six months after I began to study Christian Science. The smoking habit left me instantly through the reading of an article in the Christian Science Sentinel, an article which questioned the strange procedure men went through—first to grow a weed, then cure it, roll it up, set fire to it, pull in the smoke (making a human chimney of oneself), and blow it out again. How foolish! This made me think. From that time on, I could not smoke, and I have never had a return of the desire for tobacco.

During the so-called influenza epidemic, about 1918, I was healed in three days of a serious attack of this malady, through reliance on God, and with the help of a faithful Christian Science practitioner.
