Prayer

"What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."—Mark 11:24.

When the earth clouds gather round me
And my path I cannot see,
As a child that gropes in darkness
Reaches out my sense for Thee.
Then within a still voice whispers:
God is with me where I go,
And His presence lights my pathway;
Prayer is not plead, but know.

Just to feel Thy presence with me
Is to know a peace sublime;
Just to know Thy wisdom guides me
Is to lose my will in Thine;
Just to know Thy power protects me
Is to find my refuge sure;
Just to know Thy love enfolds me
Is to rest in peace secure.

Just to know Thy life eternal
Is to break all fleeting ties;
Just to know Thy life immortal
Is to know life never dies.
But one prayer I have to offer,
And it brings me blessings rare:
Just to know that God is with me;
Then I lose all earthly care.
