"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is...

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." The truth of this verse has been many times to me, and has also been a great help during the years I have been studying Christian Science.

In the fall of 1905, after I had had more than twelve years of suffering, and after all material means and methods, including operations, had failed, a dear friend induced me as a last resort to try Christian Science, of which at that time I knew nothing. Internationally renowned surgeons, after having me under their care for six weeks, pronounced the case tuberculosis in its last stages, and sent me home with ten more days to live. It was then that I took up Christian Science and learned that, as our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, teaches, Life is God. With the loving help of a practitioner I was soon restored to health and strength. It was over a year and a half before the last symptoms were gone, but none of them have ever returned. The healing has remained perfect and complete up to this very day. About a year after this healing a normal, healthy baby was born to us, although the doctors had declared our home would never be blessed with children.

Some of the demonstrations of the efficacy of Christian Science that our family has witnessed are healings of blood poisoning, hemorrhages, hemorrhoids, dysentery, scarlet fever, three wonderful healings of goiter, the healing of stomach trouble of years' standing, influenza, and hog cholera, and protection from accidents. Surely, as our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care." I am deeply grateful for all the demonstrations. Many of them were made with the aid of loving practitioners, and some through our own spiritual understanding.
