Love's One Race
Those who have studied Mary Baker Eddy's beautiful poem "The New Century" will be increasingly grateful at this crucial hour for its deep spiritual vision. In it she writes (Poems, p. 22), "Love hath one race, one realm, one power." In a world torn by racial beliefs this startling statement stands forth as a beacon light in the gloom, awaiting recognition and demonstration on the part of all mankind. Spiritually understood, it will outshine fear for the present and dispel doubts regarding the future.
The student perceives that every event which comes into personal or universal experience is the result of thought. He does not expect to see changes except through this means, for he knows that there can be none. The clear thinking or understanding of even a small section of humanity regarding Mrs. Eddy's statement, "Love hath one race, one realm, one power," is enough to leaven the whole mass of nondescript, loose, or false concepts regarding races, nations, realms, or powers, if at the same time there is a sufficiently clear, cleancut realization of this self-appointed responsibility. The word "self-appointed" is used here because each one who has become a student of Christian Science has thereby allocated to himself the duty of thinking clearly along every line of thought which presents itself to his consciousness; and there is no question that the thought of "race" is continually being put forth to be dealt with in these stirring times. Today every student is either accepting the belief of many races or definitely seeing Love's one race.
Persistent, willing, scientific work and untiring self-correction will eventually bring to light in thought and experience the spiritual fact. This does not seem to be taking place without much interference from the carnal mind, but the opposition will fade into nothingness as Christian Scientists persist in their God-given knowledge that "Love hath one race, one realm, one power." This is the word of God, and unfailing vision cannot be deprived of its manifestation, for spiritual vision pierces beyond the mists of earth to the reality regarding Love and Love's one race.
