With unbounded gratitude to God, the Giver of every good gift, I offer this testimony of the healing and sustaining power of Christian Science.

When, after a very brief marriage, my husband died suddenly, Christian Science proved to be my Comforter. A consecrated practitioner helped me through this experience, and to all her counsel I endeavored to be obedient. Immediately she urged me to refrain from asking "Why?" I soon discovered the wisdom of this, because it led to my affirming the ever-presence of divine Life and its changeless manifestation, instead of opening the door of my consciousness to the myriad erroneous suggestions that man, God's image, could be here at one moment and gone the next.

For a period of about two weeks there argued each night the aggressive suggestion that I must follow my loved one. I felt the support of the practitioner's work sustaining me, but the battle was very difficult because "the last enemy" seemed so strong, until suddenly one night, in the midst of my struggle to hang on to life, the angel message came to me, "Life demonstrates its own being." A great peace flooded my consciousness when I saw that I did not have to struggle to demonstrate life, for Life, God, is forever demonstrating itself (see Science and Health, p. 306). This completely mastered that phase of erroneous suggestion.
