With a deep sense of joy, I send this testimony as evidence of my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. When I first took up its study, I was skeptical as to its healing efficacy, for I had been brought up to believe that God permitted evil as well as good, that sickness came into our experience for our good or perhaps the good of a loved one. and that it was God's will. Then, too, I was a graduate nurse and steeped in medical beliefs.

In 1924, sick in body and mentally depressed, I made my first visit to a Christian Science practitioner. In a few months I was placed in a position where I was happy, had a lucrative salary, and was free from financial worry. I had been on a strict diet for several years, but soon found the truth of Jesus' words, "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." And I was healed permanently of stomach trouble. In 1925 I found I no longer needed to wear glasses, after using them for nearly eighteen years. I have had abscessed teeth healed and cavities in them filled through Christian Science treatment. Our daughter had an instantaneous healing of what the doctor diagnosed as inflammatory rheumatism, and scarlet fever was entirely cleared up in two days.

Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 369), "The prophylactic and therapeutic (that is, the preventive and curative) arts belong emphatically to Christian Science, as would be readily seen, if psychology, or the Science of Spirit, God, was understood." For the understanding of this Science that has come to me through earnest study, and for a better knowledge of God and His perfect creation, including man, I am most grateful. I give thanks for class instruction, church membership, and all the other means Mrs. Eddy established for our spiritual growth.
