To recount all the joy and healing that the study of...
To recount all the joy and healing that the study of Christian Science has brought into my life would be impossible in a short testimony, but I will try to share some of the healings that may help others.
Many years ago my life had become very sad and discouraging; I was handicapped physically from the effects of a kick in the abdomen by a heavy horse, and home conditions were inharmonious and discordant. While I was in this state of distress, the thought came to me that I had heard of Christian Science doing wonderful things. I telephoned to one who, I had been told, was a student of this Science, though I knew her only by name. She spoke lovingly to me, talked of God as Love, and advised me to borrow the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This I was able to do, for a neighbor possessed a copy of this precious book which had been her husband's.
The effect on me of reading this wonderful book was like a bright light. I had been reading eagerly all the hours that I had quietness to do so, and one day the thought came to me clearly, If this is true, there is nothing the matter with me. I then became aware of the fact that I had not been following any of my usual invalid habits, and had even forgotten to use my glasses for reading, for I was so happy to learn about God, having come to the conclusion some years before that I would have to wait until passing on to learn anything reliable. This wonderful book revealed a God of love that one could understand. That was just the beginning. With this first glad vision of man as God created him, came also the healing of the fear of growing old and of the belief that one could ever lack any good thing. These blessings have stayed with me through the years.
