For over nineteen years I have gained courage and inspiration from the testimonies printed in our periodicals, and I now hope my testimony may help others.

A prominent physician, a man who was head of the medical staff of a large hospital, advised me to turn to Christian Science for healing. He said he felt obliged to give up my case. Since the doctor's word had always been law in our home, my only desire was to be obedient. I came away from my first visit to a practitioner with the feeling that a great burden had been lifted off my shoulders and that life was worth living after all. Later, I realized I had been healed of carbuncles on my back, which had caused me great pain and many sleepless nights.

A condition of thought which had to be overcome in grasping Christian Science was doubt. I was very skeptical that there could be any system of healing other than by material means.
