"The sovereign ever-presence"

The great theme of the Bible is the ever-presence of God. Like a perfect melody, this message runs from Genesis to Revelation; and down the centuries it echoes on with ever-increasing clearness and positive proof. Christ Jesus turned this age-old message—Immanuel, "God with us"—into, "As ye go, preach, saying. The kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Centuries later Mary Baker Eddy, through her discovery, Christian Science, gave fresh pinions to that ever-living message. She states in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 107). "This apodictical Principle points to the revelation of Immanuel, 'God with us,'—the sovereign ever-presence, delivering the children of men from every ill 'that flesh is heir to.'"

What a heartening message—Immanuel, "God with us"—to carry along life's highway! As we go from hour to hour, from day to day. as we go from duty to duty, from one added privilege to another, we should "be instant in season, out of season," preaching our message, the message which frees and heals and blesses the children of men. Each one of us, as a Christian Scientist, knows the truth of our Leader's words on page 254 of Science and Health, "Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God." As Christian Scientists, we are blessed pilgrims on earth, with a heavenly message for all mankind! Should we not remember to carry our message in a manner befitting a divinely inspired messenger?
