"One in Christ"

MANY years ago, Mary Baker Eddy sent a message to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, the closing sentence of which should be a useful guide for our thinking in these days: "Over sea and over land, Christian Science unites its true followers in one Principle, divine Love, that sacred ave and essence of Soul which makes them one in Christ" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 204). How natural, fundamental, and indestructible is this spiritual unity, unaffected by distance, national boundaries, or forms of government!

There is a great need today to prove more fully this basic spiritual unity in Christ, Truth, through consecrated prayer, as taught in Christian Science.

The so-called anti-Christ would attempt to turn men from their faith in one universal God. It would set up false nationalistic gods, and thereby sow the seed of national and race hatred. Through personal domination it would try to extinguish Christliness. Loyalty to The Mother Church frustrates the attempt of impersonal error to separate the branches from the vine, to undermine the fulfillment of the provisions of our Church Manual, to break down that which the demonstration of Christian Science has built up as this revelation of the allness of God and the perfection of man has encircled the globe. All these impositions of the carnal mind are but phases of anti-Christ, which should be neither ignored nor tolerated.
