When I was about ten years of age I first heard Christian Science mentioned, and asked my mother what it meant. She told me very lovingly that Christian Scientists tried to heal as Jesus did, but that Jesus was the son of God and worked miracles, and healed with power not given to us. However, the thought of healing as Jesus did never left me.

About five years later it was necessary for me to pass a Christian Science church frequently. I very much desired to go in, but knowing the objections of my parents, because of their strict religious beliefs, I did not do so. Later I was employed in a place of business where there were several Christian Scientists. Helpful little remarks were often made to me when I suffered from sick headaches. About this time I felt I should join the church in which I grew up, and attempted to do so. In the process of unfoldment, it developed this was never to be. At the time my membership was being discussed with the elders of the church. I had a severe cold and talked to one of the Christian Scientists in the office about it. While he talked to me and I argued my side, the cold disappeared along with my arguments. The conversation had continued for perhaps twenty minutes when I was blessed with a complete healing. With the happiness and freedom this experience brought to me, all hesitancy to study and learn about Christian Science left me. I then knew why I had not been able to agree with the elders of the church.

Since then I have found the truth taught by Mary Baker Eddy in Science and Health available to help me, no matter what the problem. Christian Science has healed physical ailments for our family; it has kept our little girl healthy and happy, free from many of the so-called children's diseases. Those she did experience were beautifully overcome, and only one ran the customary length of time. We have had help on financial and business problems as we have understood and applied the truth given in our textbook (Science and Health, p. 206): "In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all, as Jesus showed with the loaves and the fishes,—Spirit, not matter, being the source of supply."
