I wish to share a healing of depression which took place through the application of Christian Science. I was becoming more and more mesmerized each day, as I saw the glaring headlines in the newspapers, and heard the disquieting reports on the radio, until it became evident to me that I was a victim of war hysteria. All my family are in Great Britain. I went through the last war, working as a medical nurse in a large military hospital. It seemed wise for me to stop listening to the news for a while, because I was unhappy for my loved ones over there.

One morning I awakened feeling very depressed. Suddenly I realized, and vehemently declared, that a child of God cannot be unhappy, but reflects joy, peace, and harmony, and that one can help the world by expressing these qualities and bringing cheer instead of gloom. I was entirely freed, and since then I have been able to listen to the news and talk about it without any ill effects, because I know that God is the preserver of man, and that our understanding of the unreality of evil will help to bless mankind and end all wars.

I am also grateful for a healing of loss of the sense of smell. This condition was of long standing. Sometimes I would think the healing had taken place, but the improvement would last for only a day or an hour; then I would be resentful. But as our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says on page 369 of Science and Health, "It is error even to murmur or to be angry over sin." After correcting my attitude of mind, and understanding that God's law is not spasmodic, but ever present and omnipotent, I was freed.
