"God's preparations"

[Written Especially for Young People]

At the age of twelve years Jesus was found in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, listening to them and asking them questions. In such ways was he preparing himself for his future ministry. When he was questioned by his mother as to why he had remained behind in Jerusalem, he responded with gentle dignity, "How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" Evidently he expected Mary and Joseph to understand that there was much work for him to do.

Throughout his earthly experience, Jesus was working in the Father's vineyard, concerned only with obeying and living the law of God and manifesting the healing Christ. After his resurrection, he counseled his disciple Thomas. "Be not faithless, but believing."

Christian Science, based on the teachings of the Master, reveals Mind as the only true cause, thus showing the way out of all human difficulties. This Science reveals God as the one creator, and man as His reflection, as the manifestation of Mind, the one supreme power. Building on these facts as a solid foundation, and preparing thought to be receptive to the Christ, Truth, one learns to reject the spurious testimony of the senses. We read in the twenty-fourth chapter of Proverbs, "Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house."
