The Normal class of the Christian Science Board of Education has recently completed its sessions. In accordance with the provisions of the Manual of The Mother Church, Article XXX, Section 1, a class is held every third year, beginning the first Wednesday in December. The teacher of the 1940 class was Mrs. Julia M. Johnston of New York City. During many years Mrs. Johnston has been well known as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science, and through her articles which have appeared in the Christian Science periodicals. Mrs. Johnston's mother, Mrs. Annie R. Michael, was also a teacher of Christian Science and received her Normal class instruction from Mrs. Eddy.

The pupils in the class came from countries abroad and from many states of the United States, as follows: Australia, Canada, Switzerland; California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.
