I came into Christian Science in 1934

I came into Christian Science in 1934. Up to that time I had been through three very severe operations, and the doctor was at a loss to know what to do next to help me. One day while driving the car I was suddenly stricken. Everything grew dark, and I thought the end had come. When I regained consciousness my car rested at the curb, and the key was turned off. I started the car and very slowly drove home. Upon my arrival a member of the family noticed that something was wrong, and by the time I could reach the house to lie down, had called a doctor. Upon his arrival he examined me and told the family that there was nothing he could do, that I had had a stroke and he did not think I could last over an hour. My extremity was "God's opportunity." I got in touch with a friend who was a Christian Scientist, and asked her to help me. In Science and Health (p. 454) Mrs. Eddy tells us, "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way." Surely Love has led me. This friend explained the truth to me and lent me her copy of the textbook, Science and Health, to read, and through her I was led to a practitioner. I shall always be grateful for the love and the sense of peace which I experienced on my first visit. In three weeks from that time my healing came.

I have had many other healings. I had been a slave to the smoking habit for twenty-eight years, and was healed instantaneously while I was in a practitioner's office.

My former business connections were re-established after I had lost contact through my sickness. I had never seen the man who employed me previous to our meeting in his hotel room. This connection was so harmonious that he afterwards made the statement that divine guidance must have brought us together.
