Employment and Compensation
The problem of finding continued employment and adequate compensation occupies much thought in our modern world, and too often fear of lack causes uncertainty, unhappiness, and distress. Christian Science unfolds the true concept of God as Life, infinite divine Principle, by which this problem, as well as all others, may be solved.
Jesus, when a child, said, "Wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" Now, being about the Father's business necessarily is to the advantage of every beloved child of God; and since the Scriptures inform us that God is Love, every child of the supreme Father is a beneficiary of His infinite loving-kindness. This true reasoning lifts thought above material sense into the realm of the real, wherein man exists as a conscious spiritual identity, governed by the one infinite Mind.
The question, "Is this teaching practical?" may be answered by the following experience. A Christian Scientist who had lived for many years in a small, friendly city, found himself stranded in a large city without friends or adequate supply. Like Job, the thing which he had greatly feared had come upon him. He was a stranger in a strange land, and his funds were very low. After a few futile attempts to find employment, it occurred to him to reason according to the teachings of Christian Science. He knew that in the perfect spiritual creation, as recorded in the first chapter of Genesis, God saw everything as "very good." The government of God, established in the beginning, he knew to be the only real government.
