Gaining Dominion

Christ Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It was his realization of the perfection of God's universe, including man, that enabled him to heal sickness and sin, feed the multitudes, and do the many other things which have been called miracles. In his own experience he proved that no material belief could hold him in bondage. He was crucified, and put in a sepulcher with a great stone before the door, but not even this could keep him from being about his Father's business. His realization of the perfect, unchanging nature of man as wholly spiritual enabled him to overcome death and walk forth from the sepulcher, thus proving his God-given dominion. In following him, we can utilize the truth of spiritual being and be free from the enslaving beliefs of mortal mind.

Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 6), "That we exist in God, perfect, there is no doubt, for the conceptions of Life, Truth, and Love must be perfect; and with that basic truth we conquer sickness, sin, and death." This plainly states that we are to prove our God-given dominion by holding to the fact that we "exist in God, perfect." Doing this, we can reject the false testimony of material sense. The more steadfastly we hold to the fact of present spiritual perfection, the more certainly we shall overcome the claims of error.

Mortal mind would have us accept this false material concept of existence. The real man, the true idea of God, reflects infinite Mind, the one intelligence. The realization of this truth about man, our true selfhood, enables us to discern the spiritual reality instead of the false mortal concept of man.
