Watch and Pray

I dreamed I walked the shore of Galilee
Beside the gentle one and heard him speak,
And marveled at the power he had to free
Those listening hosts, to heal the sad and weak.

And then I saw him turn aside to pray
And bid us watch upon the rugged hill,
But we, like children, failed. We slept that day
Until the stars arose and night was chill.

Once more I saw him, thorns upon his head,
A cross upon his shoulders as he trod
The path to Calvary, where sinners bled.
He died to live and prove his life in God.

The dream was gone; a stone was rolled away,
But still he spoke and bade me watch and pray.
