Among the Churches
Current Notes
Hobart Mercury
Hobart, Tasmania, Australia (First Church).—Christian Science churches are not dedicated until they are free of debt, and to mark this important achievement in connection with First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hobart, members of this church held three services, instead of the usual two, when the church was dedicated Each service was a replica of the others, but three were necessary to meet the needs of all those desiring to attend.
In the dedicatory announcement the following facts and dates were included:
The first definite step towards erecting a Christian Science church in Hobart was taken in March, 1922, when a group of people interested in Christian Science inaugurated a church building fund. Official recognition of the establishment of Christian Science in Tasmania came on July 30, 1923, when Christian Science Society, Hobart, was officially recognized by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
