It is now sixteen years since I witnessed the healing of a relative through Christian Science. A diseased condition of the face, which had become increasingly evident for weeks, completely vanished in the two or three day during which Christian Science treatment was given.

I had previously taken no interest whatever in religion, but this healing was important to me, first because it drew me to Christian Science, and secondly because I was able to begin my study of this great subject with the acknowledgment, "Christian Science heals; I know, because I've seen it do so."

About three years after I began studying Christian Science, I awakened in the night with a high fever and accompanying alarming symptoms. I did not know the name of the condition, but I decided to rely on Christian Science for the first time. Fear seemed to have banished calm reasoning, and my treatment consisted of "the scientific statement of being" from page 468 of the textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, analyzed sentence by sentence, and repeated over and over again. I fell asleep, and awoke next morning well, except for the sense of weakness, which passed off during the morning.
