The practical value of Christian Science for healing all manner of sickness and sin has been proved to me many times. One experience of instantaneous healing, which taught me how in a degree to overcome self-will, occurred about sixteen years ago.

One winter night some friends drove me to within a short distance of my home. In alighting from the car I slipped on the ice, and the rear wheel, having a skid chain on it, passed over my foot and leg up to the knee. I got up immediately, and in answer to the question, "Are you all right?" I said, "Yes." My friends drove away, and then it seemed as though I could not walk. Turning to God, I realized that He was my Life and strength. I managed to get home, and tried to read our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, but the pain was so intense I did not seem able to read. I again picked up Science and Health and read on page 420: "If students do not readily heal themselves, they should early call an experienced Christian Scientist to aid them. If they are unwilling to do this for themselves, they need only to know that error cannot produce this unnatural reluctance." I then called for help, and was lovingly told to go to bed and repeat the Lord's Prayer. I did this, and then fell asleep. The next morning I went to work as usual, being completely healed. Since then I have been healed of many other difficulties.

The suggestion that I should do something about a goiter was made by a fellow worker. This condition was healed by my realization that man is perfect.
