It was through a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which was left in our home many years ago, that I had my first healing in Christian Science. My father had been in very poor health, and a friend of his gave him this book. It was thought ridiculous by us that anyone could be healed simply by reading a book, so it was not then opened.

Later, while I was a student at college, I had to return home because of a very serious condition of sore eyes. For several weeks I had medical treatment, but the condition steadily grew worse until I became quite discouraged. At this point I happened to come across the copy of Science and Health, and although I had not been able to use my eyes for weeks, I began to read, not with the purpose of being healed, but out of mere curiosity. I became so interested that I took the book to my room that night and read until almost morning. Much to the surprise of my family as well as myself, I appeared at breakfast entirely healed. Later my father was healed of neuritis of many years' standing. Science and Health was the means of our entire family becoming students of Christian Science.

Since that time I have witnessed many beautiful healings in the rearing of three children, and at no time has Truth failed us. Many so-called children's diseases, such as measles, whooping cough, and chicken pox, were healed quickly under Science treatment.
