Abilene, Texas (First Church).—Members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Abilene, held morning and afternoon services on Sunday, January 28, 1940, in dedication of their house of worship at Fifth and Orange Streets.

Such dedicatory services are held by all churches that are branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, only upon completion of payment for church properties.

Following the reading of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly, a historical sketch of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Abilene, was read.

Local Christian Scientists began meeting in Abilene at Carnegie Library in September, 1928. In the spring of 1931 the property at Fifth and Orange Streets was purchased, and the structure remodeled for the church's purposes.

It has been announced that plans already are being made for erection of a new edifice there as future home of the church.—Reporter-News.
