A news item mentioning Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer...

Quebec Chronicle Telegraph

A news item mentioning Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, appeared in a recent issue. In this item a quotation from her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," is used, and it might appear to many of your readers that a certain person who is also mentioned is a student of Christian Science.

Christian Science teaches that "death must be overcome, not submitted to, before immortality appears" (Science and Health, p. 76). It teaches also that matter is a false concept or belief of the carnal mind, so called, which must be put off or overcome before immortality can be experienced. On the same page Mrs. Eddy writes: "Suffering, sinning, dying beliefs are unreal. When divine Science is universally understood, they will have no power over man, for man is immortal and lives by divine authority."
