About twenty-four years ago I had lost all interest in religion. Although I was a member of an orthodox church, I was always seeking excuses to stay away from the services.

About that time I read and heard a number of things about Mrs. Eddy and Christian Science which made me curious to know just what this Science really was. I have always been thankful that curiosity led me to investigate it, for this investigation aroused my interest, interest led to study, study brought a measure of understanding, and with understanding came demonstration. I immediately bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and spent every spare moment reading it. It took me several weeks to get beyond the first chapter, that wonderful chapter on Prayer. After reading only a few months I was one day awakened to the fact that I had been healed of nervousness, constipation, and severe catarrh of the stomach. I do not know when the healing came or how long I had been healed before I noticed it. I had not taken a drop of medicine since I began reading, although before that time I was taking it regularly. How true are Mrs. Eddy's words on page 449 of Science and Health, "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth." I then realized more fully the meaning of the remainder of that sentence, "But more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing."

During the years that I have depended entirely upon Christian Science, all the problems of my daily life have been met and solved. I have been healed of pneumonia, hay fever, ulcerated tooth, and the smoking habit, and have been protected in cases of accidents, all of which proves that Christian Science is prophylactic as well as therapeutic.
