When Christian Science was presented to me, more than...

When Christian Science was presented to me, more than twenty years ago, I was in great need, physically and mentally. It seemed as if everyone I knew was suffering in some way from the results of the world-wide war. Further, fear of heredity had been manifested in my personal experience as an incurable disease, and I was weary of disputes among those to whom I turned for relief as to the name of this condition, and the best method for alleviating it.

The first ray of light came while I was reading Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. When I came to the statement on page 13, "Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals," a great peace filled my consciousness. Nothing short of the concept of a universal Saviour could have reached my thought at that time. Immediately after my first talk with a practitioner I was able to eat and sleep in a normal way; and soon I could walk and lead an active life, without the excessive fatigue which had attended every effort for over two years. Love not only restored me, but also opened an opportunity for remunerative employment, in spite of my lack of experience and the claim of nation-wide business inactivity.

Since that time I have had many proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science in meeting human needs. Shortly after my first healing, glasses which I had worn from early childhood were laid aside. More recently, while I was engaged in selfless service, during an emergency, cavities in my teeth were filled without material aid.
