My attention has been called to an item published in your paper which stated that "Christian Science has wrecked millions of lives, and caused immeasurable suffering and sorrow."
It is evident that the individual who makes this assertion is unacquainted with the teachings of Christian Science, and I should like to correct this erroneous statement.
Christian Science is, as its name implies, a religion based upon the Bible, and its Discoverer and Founder was Mary Baker Eddy. This religion has restored thousands to health and useful, productive activity, by giving them a practical, demonstrable understanding of the Bible, thus fulfilling Jesus' promise, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, an entire chapter entitled "Fruitage" is devoted to authentic testimonies of the healing of disease through the reading and studying of this book. At the Wednesday evening meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, and Christian Science Societies throughout the world, grateful testimonies are voluntarily given by men and women, of the healing and redemptive power of God, as revealed to them through Christian Science. The Christian Science Journal, a monthly publication, and the Christian Science Sentinel, a weekly publication, contain authenticated testimonies of the benefits received through Christian Science.
A study of Mrs. Eddy's writings reveals that Christian Science is a blessing to mankind and the remedy for all manner of disease and sin.
