Utilization of Spiritual Power

In human affairs, an individual without some knowledge of arithmetic and the ability to utilize its rules would find himself greatly handicapped. One must first acquire a correct knowledge or understanding of the science of numbers and then apply what he understands.

Mary Baker Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 111), "The Principle of divine metaphysics is God; the practice of divine metaphysics is the utilization of the power of Truth over error; its rules demonstrate its Science." Recognition of the allness of God and obedience to His law are essential to demonstration. When we learn to obey and serve God with joy and gladness of heart, we shall experience the freedom, harmony, and spiritual riches which rightly belong to the children of God.

Divine Science, God's immutable law, is available to all. The law of God is the only law. Any other so-called law is mortal belief or illusion. Therefore, spiritual law is supreme. It supersedes and renders null and void all so-called laws of matter or mortal mind. God's law is absolute, invariable, irreversible, irresistible. The operation of divine law in human consciousness frees the individual from the bondage of doubt, fear, despair, limitation, or impoverishment; it breaks the fetters of so-called laws of heredity, prenatal influence, fatalism, superstition, and astrology; it cleanses, purifies, and purges human thinking of the false, erroneous, or evil beliefs which result in sin, disease, or suffering; it restores one's heritage of harmony, freedom, and health. God's law is ever operative. In the degree that the individual subjects his human will to the divine will, he is being obedient to the law of God, utilizing spiritual power, and proving the present abundance of God's goodness.
