The Healing Power of God
Mary Baker Eddy, the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has revealed to humanity the divine Principle and rules of a wholly spiritual mode for the prevention and cure of disease. Writing with reference to the healing power of God, as revealed in divine Science, our Leader makes the following statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 231): "If God heals not the sick, they are not healed, for no lesser power equals the infinite All-power; but God, Truth, Life, Love, does heal the sick through the prayer of the righteous."
Until the sick have begun to experience the restorative power of this Science of Christianity, they generally have little faith in or understanding of its remedial potency. They tend to cling to unavailing remedies. But resort to material methods, fostered by false education and fear, to restore health, prevents absolute reliance upon God and His Christ as the only healing power.
The healing and redemptive power of God was fully demonstrated by Jesus. In Matthew it is stated that Jesus went about "healing every sickness and every disease among the people." Diseased beliefs of every category yielded to the Master's spiritual understanding of the omnipotence and omnipresence of Mind.
