A clergyman, at a conference in Oxford, classified Christian Science with psychotherapy, Coueism, autosuggestion, et cetera. Christian Science is entirely different from any and every form of mental suggestion. Suggestion is based wholly on the exercise of the human mind, and as the carnal mind contains within itself all evil, it is not capable of producing anything good. Christian Science teaches that God is Mind, and that God is infinite; hence all is Mind. Christian Scientists are daily striving to "let this mind be in" them "which was also in Christ Jesus."

On page 144 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy says: "Human will-power is not Science. Human will belongs to the so-called material senses, and its use is to be condemned." She adds, "Human will-power may infringe the rights of man;" also, "Truth, and not corporeal will, is the divine power which says to disease, 'Peace, be still.' "
