Among the Churches
Current Notes
Chelsea Evening Record
Chelsea, Massachusetts (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, Chelsea, held three dedication services in the church edifice on Sunday, November 26, 1939. The fact is well known that the holding of a dedication service in a Christian Science church indicates that all indebtedness on the church building has been canceled. At these services, therefore, the announcement was made that, with the exception of current bills, the church was entirely free from debt.
The subject of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly which was read at each service was "Ancient and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, Denounced."
The following is a brief historical sketch [in part] of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Chelsea, as read by the First Reader.
