On Seeking Employment

[Written Especially for Young People]

A PUPIL in a Christian Science Sunday School was about to graduate from high school, which she had attended preparatory to entering college. Before her graduation an incident occurred which made it necessary for her to relinquish the thought of further schooling at that time, and to seek employment in the business world. Her high school work had included nothing of a commercial character, and in the business field at that time the need seemed to be especially for experienced people with business training; and she had neither experience nor training.

The young student realized immediately that here was an opportunity to practice what she had been taught in the Sunday school, and she therefore set about trying to make the demonstration of finding right employment.

Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 254), "When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path." The student knew that as the child of God she expressed the essential qualities of service, love, integrity, and intelligence. Then came the realization that in reality she was always employed in the expression of spiritual qualities.
