An interesting experience came to me some years ago, a healing which proved the words in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 370), "The body improves under the same regimen which spiritualizes the thought." I had been troubled by a disturbing and ugly lump which appeared on one side of the body. Sometimes it was irritating and bothersome; but I felt no great fear about it, for I had been a student of Christian Science for many years and had experienced so many healings that I never questioned for a moment that Christian Science would meet my need. I worked daily, exercising my understanding of Truth for the situation. This work was continued faithfully for a long time, but there was no change, and the condition remained.
One day a friend asked me to go with her to hear a Christian Science lecture in another city. This I did gladly, knowing from experience that these lectures always bless. While I was listening to the lecture, something in it lifted my thought to grasp the fact that healing in Christian Science is spiritual, and that it reaches the body, not by accident, but by law. I could not tell what part of the lecture impressed me most, but I knew that I had gained a more spiritual sense of healing. This spiritual light stayed with me, and I continued working for myself with renewed vigor. There was no apparent change in the physical condition, but I was lifted above discouragement, and kept on.
About a month later, I had the opportunity of hearing the same lecture again. Returning home that night, I discovered that the lump on my side had opened. After the simple process of cleansing it, I retired for the night, having experienced no pain whatsoever. The wound or opening healed completely in a short time, and there has never been the slightest return of the trouble. This healing occurred about eight years ago.
