I feel impelled not to delay longer in adding to that of...
I feel impelled not to delay longer in adding to that of others my own song of praise to God. I was led to a Christian Science Sunday School unwillingly, but before long found the truth taught there too precious ever to be given up. Since then I have persistently clung to what I have understood of Truth, and have added to my understanding by regular study. I also had the privilege of attending a Sunday school while in college, and the bond formed among my classmates there has proved stronger than that of any other college association.
My first outstanding healing, an instantaneous one, occurred while I was in high school. In cooking class we made jelly one day, and in attempting to move the glasses, just after the jelly had been poured, a classmate spilled some on my hand. This resulted in a very painful burn. After school, a classmate, who was a Christian Scientist, persuaded me to go home with her. Her mother, as soon as she learned what had occurred, put me to reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and she herself did some mental work. In a short time I went to my own home, and when I took off the bandages, not even redness remained to show that there had been a burn.
I continued to study Christian Science while my brother and sisters were attending an orthodox Sunday school. I was unable conscientiously to go back to those teachings. I am thankful that I was able to hold to Truth. My faith was often tested thereafter by attempts to divert, undermine, or ridicule my adherence, but while I was in high school my parents gave permission for me to join the local Christian Science Society.
